Approval granted for 277 homes at Carrington Village
Housebuilder Wainhomes will deliver 277 new homes at Carrington Village – part of the major Future Carrington regeneration scheme – after securing planning approval.
Trafford Council has approved a reserved matters application for the new houses – ranging from one to four-bedroom homes – alongside a range of infrastructure improvement works to surrounding roads.
Wainhomes, which is expected to start on site early in the new year, will be delivering starter to executive family homes of which 5% will be made affordable through discounted market sale.
Architects DGL Associates, APD and TPM Landscape have developed a ‘Cheshire village’ feel for the new development, which will feature a tree-lined boulevard from Manchester Road, a village green and wider landscape enhancement works, along with complementary and bespoke housing designs.
The first units are expected to be completed in late 2019 with a show home complex on the site planned for autumn 2019.
Carrington Village is part of phase one of property developer HIMOR’s long-term vision for its 1,660-acre Carrington Estate in South West Manchester – one of the largest brownfield regeneration sites in Europe.
Trafford Council’s latest planning approval follows a ground-breaking ceremony for Carrington Gateway earlier this month– the other core element of the regeneration’s first phase – which was attended by Kate Green, MP for Stretford and Urmston, and Andrew Western, Leader of Trafford Council.
Peter Barlow, Managing Director of Wainhomes, said: “Carrington Village will transform the look and feel of the site and signal its rebirth as a vibrant new community. For many families and young professionals, for whom many neighbouring areas of Trafford are out of reach, the Village will offer a rural Cheshire lifestyle on Manchester’s doorstep.”
Mark Booth, Managing Director of HIMOR, added: “We’re gathering real momentum now and our long journey to regenerate the Carrington Estate is becoming a reality. Gateway and the Village are the two cornerstones of its future by bringing back major employment and delivering new housing.”
